As you can imagine, there have been a lot of changes to my life just recently, but things are now looking a lot more positive and I am feeling more upbeat and positive about myself. I will explain as we move along.
Not long after my 65th Birthday concert, I had two heart attacks/failures - followed immediately by a mid brain stroke! Don't say I do things in small measures! This was in late November 2009, and it has taken me a long time to recover as I had to learn to walk and talk all over again. Forget guitar playing: I just didn't have the coordination required, so that was a no-go.
Needless to say, the whole thing left me mightily depressed. For a while, I seriously did not consider playing guitar again until my dear friend Elliott Randall came by to visit and bit by bit, little by little, he has encouraged me to play again. Although I am not playing anywhere like the old times, some good things are happening and I am playing again.
So although I am not gigging on a regular basis, there is still plenty to do! I am re-doing my studio and will be writing some new songs when the refurbishment is finished. I hope to do an album with my pal Riki Braga's band, "The Crossfire Band," in Switzerland. If you have a look on the Pictures page, it has some new pics - with more to come - from when I played with the band in August this year at the "Tenero Nights" concert, and what a great time we had. I played a few numbers with the band and their whole set was devoted to me and my songs! I just couldn't believe it!
At the end of our set I was surprised by a gentleman called Leon Leoni of Gotthard fame, who presented me with the Crossfire Musician of the year award for 2012. I was totally made up! Fantastic!!
Thanks to all the people who arranged that for me especially my kind host Riki Braga. Brilliant! - and what a way to play my first gig in nearly three years.
More to come soon, and huge thanks as ever for reading and looking.
